Defense against the Dark Arts

I follow sports because its easy to talk about.  Whether its simply small talk or advanced trash talk sports provide alot to run our mouths about.  Sure question my fanhood to any specific team.  I root for good sport.  I also am willing to believe that not everything is what it seems and somehow the business of the sport trumps the actual sport.  So your right that the new orleans hornets aren't solely saving the city.  Maybe though it gives those who are directly working to save the city something exciting to talk about.
